- Attic conversionTurning the roof space into usable room: a floor strong enough to use, a proper stairs, insulation, roof windows or a dormer, and the fire separation the building regulations ask for.

- Hedge trimmingCutting garden hedges back to shape — sides and top — and clearing the cuttings.
- Lawn mowing and careKeeping a lawn cut, edged and healthy: regular mowing through the growing season, and the occasional heavier work — scarifying out moss and thatch, aerating, feeding and overseeding — that an Irish lawn, wet and mossy for half the year, usually needs.
- Paving and patiosLaying a patio, path or driveway in concrete slabs, porcelain, natural stone, block paving or gravel.

- BER assessmentA Building Energy Rating survey by an SEAI-registered assessor, who measures the home, records its insulation, windows, heating and ventilation, and publishes a BER certificate (A1 to G) with an advisory report.
- Cavity wall insulationBlowing insulating beads or fibre into the gap between the two leaves of a cavity block wall through small holes drilled in the outside, then filling the holes.
- External wall insulationWrapping the outside of a house in insulation boards and a new render finish, so solid or hollow-block walls stop losing heat without touching the rooms inside.
- Heat pump installationReplacing an oil or gas boiler, storage heaters or a solid-fuel system with an air-to-water heat pump that heats radiators or underfloor pipes and the hot water, or fitting air-to-air units for space heating.
- Internal dry liningInsulating the external walls from inside, by fixing insulated plasterboard or a stud wall filled with insulation to them, sealing it for airtightness and skimming it ready to paint.
- Solar panelsFitting solar photovoltaic panels on the roof (or on the ground nearby), with an inverter, often a battery, and a connection to the house supply, so the home makes some of its own electricity and can sell the surplus to its supplier.
Handyman
- Furniture assemblyAssembling flat-pack wardrobes, beds, desks, chests and units, and fixing tall or heavy furniture to the wall so it cannot tip over.
- General handymanAn hour, a half day or a day of small jobs around the house — sticking doors, curtain poles, silicone, loose handles, minor repairs and fitting things — the list no single trade wants.

- Intercom and video doorbellFitting a video doorbell for a house or an audio or video door-entry intercom for a house or apartment block, with chimes, indoor screens and phone app set-up.

- Chimney liningFitting a liner inside an existing chimney, usually a flexible stainless steel tube sized to the stove, or a cast or pumice liner, so smoke and gases go safely up and out.
- Chimney sweepingCleaning soot, tar and debris such as nests out of a chimney or stove flue so the fire draws properly and the risk of a chimney fire and carbon monoxide is lower.

- Drain CCTV surveyPutting a waterproof camera through the underground drains to see their condition, then reporting cracks, root intrusion, displaced joints, sagging runs and blockages with recorded footage.
- Drain repair and reliningFixing an underground drain that is cracked, collapsed, displaced or full of roots, either by relining it from inside with a resin liner, without digging, or by excavating and replacing the damaged section.
- Septic tank emptyingEmptying the sludge and scum from a septic tank or treatment system with a vacuum tanker and taking it to an authorised treatment plant.
- Septic tank installationInstalling a new or replacement domestic wastewater treatment system — a septic tank or a packaged treatment unit — with its percolation area or polishing filter.
Pest control
- Insects and bed bugsTreating insect infestations in the home — bed bugs, fleas, carpet and clothes moths, cockroaches, ants, silverfish and cluster flies — by identifying the insect, finding where it lives and breeds, and using the right mix of preparation, treatment and follow-up.
- Rats and miceGetting rid of rats or mice and stopping them coming back: a survey to find how they get in, a treatment with traps or tamper-resistant bait stations, and proofing the gaps — around pipes, vents, doors and drains — that let them in.
- Wasps and beesTreating a wasp nest — in a roof space, wall cavity, bird box, hedge or ground — so the colony dies off safely.
