Design and branding: every service
- Graphic and print designDesigning printed and digital material — flyers, posters, menus, brochures, business cards, signage and packaging — and preparing artwork a printer can use without problems.
- IllustrationCommissioning original drawings — for a book, packaging, a website, a map, a portrait, a children’s story or a brand character — from sketch to finished artwork.
- Logo and brandingDesigning a logo and the visual identity around it — colours, typefaces and simple rules for using them — so a business looks the same on its van, website, invoices and social media.
- Presentation designDesigning presentation decks — pitch decks, sales presentations, conference talks, reports and company templates — in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides, so the message is clear and the slides look consistent.
- Social media graphicsDesigning graphics and short video templates for social media — posts, stories, reels covers, ads and profile banners — in the brand’s style, often as a batch or a monthly set.
- UI and UX designDesigning how a website or app works and looks — the screens, the steps a user takes and the visual design — usually as an interactive prototype that a developer then builds.
Hiring a graphic designer in Ireland
Design work is delivered as files: a logo and its variations, artwork a printer can use, templates for social media, illustrations or a prototype of an app. It usually starts with a brief and examples, then a set of concepts, then rounds of changes to one of them.
What a customer can do with the result depends on what is agreed in writing. Copyright stays with the designer unless assigned, so agree whether you get the copyright or a licence, and for what uses, before you accept.
What the work usually involves
- Logos and simple brand guidelines
- Flyers, posters, menus, brochures and signage
- Social media posts, ads and editable templates
- Illustration for books, packaging and websites
- Pitch decks and presentation templates
- Website and app screens and prototypes
What to put in your task
- What it is for, and where it will be used: print, web, social, signage
- Examples you like and dislike, and any colours or fonts you already use
- The sizes and formats you need
- How many rounds of changes you expect
What graphic designers cost, and why
What jobs on Talqero came to
Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.
What affects the price
- The number of concepts and rounds of changes
- How many pieces, sizes and formats are needed
- Whether the copyright is assigned or licensed, and for what uses
- Stock images and fonts, which carry their own licences
How long it usually takes
- A logo or a set of social graphics: usually one to three weeks, depending on feedback.
- A brand or a large print job: longer, in agreed stages.
What to ask before you choose
- Will you assign the copyright in what you make to me in writing, or give me a written licence — and for which uses?
- What will you hand over at the end: source files, code, logins and accounts, in my own name?
- Will you keep what I share with you confidential, and agree that in writing?
- Will I get the editable source files as well as the finished ones?
- Which fonts and images are used, and are they licensed for my use?

Questions about hiring a graphic designer
How long does design and branding work take?
A logo or a set of social graphics: usually one to three weeks, depending on feedback. A brand or a large print job: longer, in agreed stages.
Can I use the logo however I like?
Only as far as the designer assigns or licenses it to you, in writing. Copyright stays with the designer unless assigned (Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000, s. 120), so agree before you accept whether you get the copyright or a licence, and for what uses.
Which files should I get?
Ask for the editable source files as well as finished ones: vector files for a logo, print-ready PDFs for print, and the fonts and images used with their licences.
How many changes are included?
It varies by designer. Agree the number of rounds in the conversation, so it is written next to the price.
