Hiring a cleaner in Ireland
Cleaning jobs fall into regular visits — weekly or fortnightly — and one-off deep cleans: end of tenancy, after builders, carpets, ovens and outside surfaces. A one-off clean is priced by the job; regular cleaning usually by the hour.
Agree a checklist before the first visit. It is the easiest way to compare offers and the fairest way to judge the result.
What the work usually involves
- Regular and one-off house cleaning
- End-of-tenancy and after-builders cleans
- Carpet, oven and window cleaning
- Power washing and gutter clearing
What to put in your task
- The size of the home — bedrooms and bathrooms
- One-off or regular, and how often
- Anything that needs special attention
- Whether the cleaner should bring products and equipment
Cleaning: rules and grants in Ireland
The rules in Ireland
A cleaner who takes rubbish or builders’ waste away for you must hold a waste collection permit.
- Anybody who takes your waste away must hold a waste collection permit. Handing waste to an unpermitted collector is an offence for the householder, with a fine of up to €5,000 — ask for the permit number, which collectors must show on vehicles and receipts.

What cleaners cost, and why
What jobs on Talqero came to
Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.
What affects the price
- Size of the home and number of bathrooms
- Regular visits or a one-off deep clean
- Extras: oven, inside windows, carpets, ironing
- Products and equipment supplied by the cleaner or by you
How long it usually takes
- A regular clean: two to four hours.
- An end-of-tenancy clean: four hours to a full day.
- After builders: one to two days for a full renovation.
What to ask before you choose
- What is on your checklist, and what is extra?
- Do you bring products and equipment?
- Are you insured for breakages?
- If you take waste away, what is your waste collection permit number?
