- Set up WordPress on hosting in the business’s name, with secure logins and automatic backups.
- Install and configure the theme and a small set of well-maintained plugins.
- Build the pages, forms and menus, and move content from any old site with redirects.
- Add cookie consent, the privacy notice, security hardening and caching.
- Test on phones and browsers, check accessibility basics and speed, then go live.
- Train the owner on editing and updates, and hand over logins and licences.

What the official sources say, checked against them on the date shown. A summary, not legal advice — follow the link to read the rule itself.
WordPress is released under the GPL version 2 or later, and the WordPress project treats themes and plugins as derivative works under the same licence. Premium themes and plugins also come with a support and update subscription that is licensed to a named account.

What wordpress website costs, and why
What jobs on Talqero came to
Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.
What affects the price
- Ready-made theme, page builder or a custom-coded theme
- Number of pages and page layouts
- Plugins and features: forms, bookings, memberships, languages, events
- Moving content from an old site and setting up redirects
- Whether text and images are ready
- Ongoing maintenance wanted after launch
What you should get at the end
- Written assignment of copyright, or a written licence, for the design and code made for you
- Admin logins for the site, hosting, domain and any connected services, in your own name
- A list of third-party themes, plugins, fonts and images with their licences and renewal dates
- Administrator account for the business, separate from the developer’s
- Licence keys for premium themes and plugins, registered to the business
- Where backups are kept and how to restore one
What the provider should hand over
- Hand over the administrator account, licence keys and hosting access
- Give a list of plugins and what each does, with renewal dates
- Explain updates and backups, or agree a maintenance plan
Safety
- Out-of-date plugins are the usual way WordPress sites are hacked; agree who updates them after launch.
- Avoid “nulled” or pirated premium themes and plugins, which often contain malware.
- Keep at least one tested backup stored away from the hosting account.
WordPress website: before you hire
Questions to ask before you hire
- Will premium plugins and themes be licensed to my business?
- How many plugins will the site use, and who updates them?
- Will I have my own administrator account?
- Do you build on a staging copy before changing the live site?
- Will I own the copyright in any custom code you write?
What you can do yourself
Owners can safely edit text and images and apply minor updates after taking a backup, but major version updates and plugin conflicts are best tested on a staging copy first.
What to put in your task
- Is this a new site or a rebuild of an existing one?
- Roughly how many pages?
- Which features do you need?
- Will you edit the site yourself after launch?
Photos that help
- Your current site address and the admin login level you can share
- Links to sites you like
- Your logo and brand files
- A list of plugins in use now, if rebuilding

Questions about wordpress website
Does wordpress website need a licence in Ireland?
No licence is required for this work in Ireland (source: www.irishstatutebook.ie). Ask instead for references and photographs of similar jobs.
Is WordPress free?
The WordPress software is free and open source under the GPL, but you pay for hosting, the domain and usually some premium themes or plugins. Ask the developer to list every recurring cost before you agree.
Who owns a WordPress site?
WordPress itself and its plugins are licensed under their own terms, which let you keep using them. Custom design and code made for you belong to the developer unless assigned to you in writing, so ask for that assignment.
Why does my WordPress site need updates?
WordPress, themes and plugins release security fixes often, and attackers scan for sites that have not applied them. Someone needs to update, back up and check the site regularly, either you or a maintenance plan.
