Web design and development: every service
- Accessibility auditChecking a website or app against the WCAG accessibility guidelines, by automated scans and by hand with a keyboard and screen readers, and reporting what stops disabled and older people using it, with fixes in priority order.
- Business websiteDesigning and building a website for a business or organisation: the pages, layout, contact forms and basic search optimisation, put live on a domain the business owns.
- Domains, hosting and emailSetting up or moving the plumbing behind a website: registering a .ie or .com domain, choosing hosting, pointing DNS, and setting up business email on the domain with the records that stop it landing in spam.
- Landing pageA single web page built for one aim, such as bookings for a course, enquiries from an ad campaign or a product launch, with a clear message, one call to action and a form or button.
- Online shopBuilding an online shop on a platform such as Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom system: product pages, cart, checkout through a payment provider, delivery and tax settings, and the consumer law pages an Irish shop must show.
- Website maintenanceKeeping an existing website updated, backed up and working after launch: software and plugin updates, security checks, small content changes and fixing what breaks.
- Website speed and securityMaking an existing website faster and harder to attack: measuring load times and Core Web Vitals, optimising images, caching and code, and hardening logins, software and server settings.
- WordPress websiteBuilding or rebuilding a website on WordPress, the open-source system many Irish business sites run on, with a theme, the plugins it needs and an editor the business can use.
Hiring a web designer in Ireland
A website is usually designed, built and put live remotely: the designer or developer works from a brief, shows drafts, and launches the site on a domain and hosting that should be in the business’s own name. A maintenance arrangement afterwards keeps the software updated, backed up and secure.
What decides most of the price is scope: the number of pages and templates, whether there is a shop or bookings, who writes the text and supplies the images, and how much the business wants to edit itself. Agree that in writing, with what is handed over at the end.
What the work usually involves
- A business website on a domain you own
- Online shops on Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom system
- Rebuilding or fixing a WordPress site
- Landing pages for a campaign or a launch
- Updates, backups, speed and security for a live site
What to put in your task
- What the site is for and who it is for
- The pages or features you need, and any site you like the look of
- Whether you already have a domain, hosting, a logo and text
- When you need it live, and whether you will edit it yourself afterwards
What web designers cost, and why
What jobs on Talqero came to
Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.
What affects the price
- The number of pages and templates, and whether it is a shop or a booking site
- A custom design or an adapted theme
- Who writes the text and supplies the photographs
- Integrations: payments, bookings, newsletters, accounting
- Ongoing maintenance, hosting and support after launch
How long it usually takes
- A small business site: usually a few weeks, most of it waiting on text and feedback.
- An online shop or a custom build: longer, in stages agreed up front.
What to ask before you choose
- Will you assign the copyright in what you make to me in writing, or give me a written licence — and for which uses?
- What will you hand over at the end: source files, code, logins and accounts, in my own name?
- Will you keep what I share with you confidential, and agree that in writing?
- Will the domain, hosting and every account be registered in my business’s name?
- How many rounds of changes does the price include?

Questions about hiring a web designer
How long does web design and development work take?
A small business site: usually a few weeks, most of it waiting on text and feedback. An online shop or a custom build: longer, in stages agreed up front.
Who owns the website once it is paid for?
Not automatically you. In Irish law the designer or developer owns the copyright in what they make unless it is assigned to you in writing (Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000, ss. 23 and 120). Agree in the conversation, before you accept, whether you get an assignment or a licence, and that the domain and hosting are in your name.
What should I get at the end?
The admin logins for the site, the domain and the hosting in your own name, the source files or theme, a list of the plugins, fonts and images used with their licences, and a short guide to editing it.
Does the designer need to be in my county?
No. The work is done online, so the task is shown to web designers anywhere in Ireland. You can still say if you would like to meet in person.
Do I pay through Talqero?
No. You agree the price and the terms with the designer and pay them directly. Talqero takes no commission on the job.
