Hiring an appliance repairer in Ireland
Appliance repair is mostly diagnosis: an engineer finds the fault, prices the part, and tells you whether the repair is worth it against the age and value of the machine. Integrated machines take longer because they come out of the kitchen first.
Gas cookers and hobs are different from other appliances: any work on them must be done by a Registered Gas Installer.
What the work usually involves
- Washing machine and dryer repairs
- Oven and hob repairs
- Fridge and freezer repairs
- Dishwasher repairs
What to put in your task
- The make and model, from the label inside the door
- Its rough age
- What it is doing, and any error code on the display
- Whether it is still under warranty
Appliance repair: rules and grants in Ireland
The rules in Ireland
Any work on a gas cooker, hob or gas fire is reserved to a Registered Gas Installer, who must leave a Declaration of Conformance.
- Check the installer’s RGI photo ID card and the register at rgi.ie.

What jobs on Talqero came to
Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.
What affects the price
- Call-out and diagnosis, often charged even if you decide not to repair
- The part and its availability
- Integrated and American-style machines
- Make, model and age
How long it usually takes
- Most repairs: an hour or two, or a second visit if a part is ordered.
What to ask before you choose
- What is the call-out charge, and is it deducted from the repair?
- Is the part genuine or compatible, and what is the warranty?
- Is the machine worth repairing at its age?
- For gas: may I see your RGI card?
