Questions about laminate and vinyl
Does laminate and vinyl need a licence in Ireland?
No licence is required for this work in Ireland (source: www.cru.ie). Ask instead for references and photographs of similar jobs.
Laminate or LVT?
Laminate has a wood-fibre core, feels warmer and is hard-wearing, but most products do not like standing water. LVT is fully plastic, quieter underfoot and usually better in kitchens and bathrooms.
Can vinyl go over floorboards?
Not directly; board edges show through. Fitters usually lay thin plywood over floorboards first, which also stops movement.
Do I need to remove my skirting?
Taking skirting off gives the neatest finish, with the floor tucked under it. Leaving it on and using beading is quicker but more visible.
