Writers and translators in Ireland
Writing and translation: every service
- CopywritingWriting the words that sell and explain a business — website pages, product descriptions, ads, brochures, emails, blog articles and social captions — in a voice that suits the brand and the Irish customer.
- CV writingWriting or rewriting a CV, cover letter and LinkedIn profile so they show your experience clearly for the jobs you want, in the format Irish employers expect.
- Document translationTranslating documents between English or Irish and other languages — certificates, legal and immigration papers, business documents, websites and manuals — including certified translations that Irish authorities accept.
- Proofreading and editingChecking a finished text for spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency and typos — or, at a deeper level, editing it for clarity, structure and style.
Hiring a writer or translator in Ireland
Writing and translation are done remotely, from a brief or a source document. A writer needs to know who the text is for and what it must achieve; a translator needs the languages, the purpose and whether an authority will ask for a certified translation.
The copyright in commissioned text stays with the writer unless assigned in writing. For website and marketing copy, agree the assignment or licence before you accept, and agree confidentiality for anything sensitive.
What the work usually involves
- Website pages, ads, brochures and articles
- CVs, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles
- Proofreading and editing finished texts
- Translating certificates, business and legal documents
What to put in your task
- What the text is for and who will read it
- The length, or the number of words to translate
- The languages, and whether the translation must be certified
- Your deadline
What writers and translators cost, and why
What jobs on Talqero came to
Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.
What affects the price
- Length or word count, and how much research it needs
- For translation: the language pair, the subject and whether it must be certified
- Rounds of changes
- How soon you need it
How long it usually takes
- A CV or a short text: usually days.
- Long documents and translations: depends on length and subject.
What to ask before you choose
- Will you assign the copyright in what you make to me in writing, or give me a written licence — and for which uses?
- What will you hand over at the end: source files, code, logins and accounts, in my own name?
- Will you keep what I share with you confidential, and agree that in writing?
- For a translation: will it be certified, and will the authority I am sending it to accept it?

Questions about hiring a writer or translator
How long does writing and translation work take?
A CV or a short text: usually days. Long documents and translations: depends on length and subject.
Who owns the text I paid for?
The writer, unless the copyright is assigned to you in writing (Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000, s. 120). For website copy and marketing text, agree the assignment or licence before you accept.
Will a translation be accepted by an Irish authority?
It depends on the authority. Check what they require, such as a certified translation, before you post the task, and say so in it.
Is my document kept confidential?
Ask before you send it. For anything personal or commercially sensitive, agree confidentiality in writing and only share what the work needs.
