Licences are issued per sector — Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Alarm — and last two years; the PSA register shows each contractor’s sectors and expiry dates.
Under section 38 of the Private Security Services Act 2004 it is an offence to engage an unlicensed contractor for a licensable security service (up to €3,000 and/or 12 months on summary conviction); being shown the licence is a defence, so ask to see it.
