What writers and translators in Sneem cost, and why

What jobs on Talqero came to

Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.

What affects the price

  • Length or word count, and how much research it needs
  • For translation: the language pair, the subject and whether it must be certified
  • Rounds of changes
  • How soon you need it

How long it usually takes

  • A CV or a short text: usually days.
  • Long documents and translations: depends on length and subject.

What to ask before you choose

  • Will you assign the copyright in what you make to me in writing, or give me a written licence — and for which uses?
  • What will you hand over at the end: source files, code, logins and accounts, in my own name?
  • Will you keep what I share with you confidential, and agree that in writing?
  • For a translation: will it be certified, and will the authority I am sending it to accept it?

Questions about hiring a writer or translator

Who owns the text I paid for?

The writer, unless the copyright is assigned to you in writing (Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000, s. 120). For website copy and marketing text, agree the assignment or licence before you accept.

Will a translation be accepted by an Irish authority?

It depends on the authority. Check what they require, such as a certified translation, before you post the task, and say so in it.

Is my document kept confidential?

Ask before you send it. For anything personal or commercially sensitive, agree confidentiality in writing and only share what the work needs.
