What roofers in Rathdrum cost, and why

What jobs on Talqero came to

Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.

What affects the price

  • Access: height of the house, scaffolding or a cherry picker
  • Natural slate, fibre-cement slate or concrete tile, and matching what is there
  • Rotten battens, rafters or decking found once the covering is off
  • Lead flashings, valleys and chimney work
  • VAT: building work on a home is charged at the reduced rate of 13.5% by a VAT-registered business — unless the materials come to more than two-thirds of the price, when Revenue’s two-thirds rule applies the goods rate to the whole job. Ask whether a quote includes VAT.

How long it usually takes

  • A repair: a few hours to a day.
  • A flat roof: one to three days.
  • A re-roof: one to three weeks, weather allowing.

What to ask before you choose

  • Will you send photographs of what you find and what you fixed?
  • Is scaffolding included, and for how long?
  • What guarantee is there on the work and on the materials?
  • Do you carry public liability insurance?
  • Is VAT included?

Questions about hiring a roofer

Should I go up and look myself?

No. Photos from the ground and from inside the attic are enough to describe the job. Working at height is the roofer’s job.

Will the roofer need scaffolding?

Sometimes. Ask whether the offer includes access equipment so that two prices compare like with like.

Can I see who I am dealing with?

Every business that makes an offer has recorded its trader details. Ask in the conversation for anything else you want to see.
