What painters and decorators in Raharney cost, and why

What jobs on Talqero came to

Not enough comparable jobs yet to publish a range here. Talqero shows a price range only once at least five comparable jobs, agreed prices or offers exist — a range from fewer would describe a handful of jobs, not the market. Post your job and compare the offers you get.

What affects the price

  • Preparation: cracks, damp stains, wallpaper removal, new plaster
  • Ceiling heights, stairwells and scaffolding for exteriors
  • Number of colours and coats, and woodwork, doors and radiators
  • Paint supplied by the painter or by you
  • VAT: building work on a home is charged at the reduced rate of 13.5% by a VAT-registered business — unless the materials come to more than two-thirds of the price, when Revenue’s two-thirds rule applies the goods rate to the whole job. Ask whether a quote includes VAT.

How long it usually takes

  • A room: one to two days with woodwork.
  • A house interior: one to two weeks.
  • An exterior: three days to a week, weather allowing.

What to ask before you choose

  • What preparation is included, and how many coats?
  • Which paint and finish will you use?
  • Is woodwork included, and are ceilings?
  • For outside: what happens if it rains on the day?
  • Is VAT included?

Questions about hiring a painter

How long does a room take?

It depends on preparation more than painting. Ask each decorator how long they expect, and compare that along with the price.

When is the best time for exterior painting?

Dry, mild months. Post early — exterior work in Ireland books up quickly once the weather settles.

Can I ask for a colour sample first?

Yes. Agree it in the conversation before you accept an offer.
